Jonathan Shedler, PhD

Jonathan Shedler, PhD is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Director of Psychology at the University of Colorado Hospital Outpatient Psychiatry Service. He has authored numerous articles in psychology and psychiatry and his research on personality is helping shape the next edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). He is author of the Shedler-Westen Assessment Procedure (SWAP) for personality diagnosis and case formulation, and the Quick PsychoDiagnostics Panel (QPD Panel) for primary care mental health assessment. His recent article, "The Efficacy of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy," has won international acclaim.

Dr. Shedler leads workshops for mental health professionals, lectures to professional audiences nationally and internationally, and consults to health care organizations and government agencies. He is also a certified professional ski instructor and, in a former life, taught skiing in Aspen, Colorado.
